Job Purpose

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Preparation and submission of due diligence information for new client onboarding of both retail, corporate and white-label clients.
  • Review and verify customer identities by analysing documentation (e.g., IDs, passports) in compliance with regulatory standards and the firms policy.
  • Perform due diligence checks to assess customer risk profiles Conduct enhanced checks for high-risk customers, such as politically exposed persons (PEPs) or those from high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Gather, organise, and analyse customer information from internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyse clients transactions to identify suspicious activities and potential AML or financial crime risks.
  • Evaluate customer risk levels based on various factors such as geographical location, business nature, and transaction history.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing detailed KYC files and supporting documentation when needed.
  • Ensure all processes align with the company’s AML, KYC, and compliance policies, identifying any areas for enhancement.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to the KYC process, focusing on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Liaise with internal teams to clarify KYC requirements or obtain missing documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving regulatory standards and industry best practices related to KYC and AML.

As a dynamic fintech business, you may be required to support in other aspects of the wider compliance framework to meet business demands, this includes but is not limited to:  

  • Performing reviews of event-driven reviews in alignment with client profiles and expected behaviours. 
  • Reviewing internal reports of suspicious activity and providing recommendations on next steps. 
  • Responded to External Requests for Information from Banking Partners with relevant transactional or KYC information as requested. 
  • Processing requests in accordance with data protection laws and fulfilling such requests within a timely manner. 
  • Reviewing financial promotions for adherence to the financial promotions rules set for by the Financial Conduct Authority. 

Qualification & Experience

  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience within an FCA-regulated financial institution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Expert attention to detail.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English.
  • Experience in both corporate and retail KYC.
  • Strong understanding of obligations under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (as amended).
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in undertaking name screening for PEPs, Sanctions and Adverse Media, either as part of KYC or standalone.
  • Experience in undertaking KYC on clients in high-risk jurisdictions and sectors

Nice to have:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in an Authorised Payments Institution or Electronic Money Institution.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Money Service Business (MSB) offering Money Remittance and Foreign Exchange.
  • Understanding of the National Risk Assessment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique risks posed to MSBs from a money laundering perspective.
